Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you'd want to know before working with us - covering engagement, pricing, security, and what happens after launch.
Getting Started
How engagements begin and what to expect first.
How quickly can you start?
Most engagements begin within 1-2 weeks of scope approval. For urgent fixes or short audits, we can often start within a few business days.
Is the discovery call free?
Yes - the first 30-minute discovery call is completely free with no commitment. We'll discuss your goals, constraints, and whether we're a good fit.
Can we start with a small pilot project?
Absolutely. A focused 2-4 week pilot is often the best way to validate fit, working style, and quality before committing to a longer engagement.
What do you need from us to give a quote?
A short brief covering your goals, current stack (if any), rough scope, and timeline. We'll follow up with a structured proposal - usually within 2-3 business days.
Engagement & Process
How we work day-to-day during a project.
Do you embed with our team or work standalone?
Both. We can embed senior engineers into your existing squads, or take end-to-end ownership of a project from discovery through launch - whichever fits your roadmap.
How do you communicate during projects?
Daily on Slack or Teams, weekly demos with stakeholders, and a shared board (Linear/Jira/GitHub Projects) so progress is always visible. No surprises, no hidden updates.
What's your typical team composition?
A focused pod of 2-6 senior practitioners - typically a tech lead plus engineers and a designer or QA, sized to the work. You always have a single named program lead as your point of contact.
How are milestones and progress tracked?
We define milestones up front with clear acceptance criteria. Each sprint ends with a demo and a shared status doc covering what shipped, what's next, and any risks.
Pricing & Contracts
Billing, plan flexibility, and legal basics.
How does billing work?
Monthly engagements are billed in advance. Fixed-scope projects bill against milestones (typically 30/40/30). Enterprise contracts are tailored - we'll quote upfront, no surprises.
Can we change plans later?
Yes. Plans are month-to-month with no lock-in. You can upgrade, downgrade, or pause with 2 weeks' notice - we'll only invoice for actual time delivered.
Do you sign NDAs and DPAs?
Yes - standard NDA and DPA on day one. We can also complete vendor security questionnaires and provide SOC 2-aligned controls documentation on request.
Do you offer fixed-price projects?
For well-defined scopes, yes. For exploratory or evolving work, time-and-materials usually delivers better outcomes for both sides - we'll recommend the right model.
Technical & Delivery
Stacks, integrations, and security.
What tech stacks do you specialize in?
Web: MERN / PERN / Next.js / Vue / Angular. Mobile: React Native and native iOS/Android. Cloud: AWS, GCP, Azure. Plus Python, Elixir, Laravel, and AI integrations (OpenAI, Meta, Web3).
Can you work with our existing codebase?
Yes - we regularly take over, modernize, or extend existing systems. We start with a short audit so the team understands what's there before writing new code.
How do you handle security and compliance?
Secure-by-design: code review, dependency scanning, secrets management, and least-privilege access. We've shipped to HIPAA and PCI-aligned environments and can support SOC 2 prep.
Do you build mobile apps?
Yes - React Native for cross-platform speed, and native Swift/Kotlin when performance, hardware, or platform-specific UX demand it.
Support & Ownership
Post-launch, IP, and what happens after delivery.
Do you provide post-launch support?
Yes. Most clients keep a small care plan after launch covering bug fixes, monitoring, and incremental improvements. You can also bring in larger packages as the roadmap evolves.
Who owns the code and IP?
You do - fully. Source code, designs, infrastructure, documentation, and any third-party accounts created for the project transfer to you on payment. We retain no rights.
What happens if there's a critical bug after launch?
Care-plan clients get a defined response SLA (typically 1 business day, faster for Sev 1). Even without a plan, we don't disappear - we'll triage urgent issues quickly.
Still have questions?
The fastest answer is a 30-minute call with one of the founders - free, no commitment, no jargon.
